LET’S STOP DISSING SANTA: Sadly this time of year people get on their soap boxes and rain on other’s parades. Saint Nicklaus was born into a wealthy family in Turkey. After losing his parents at a young age he followed his devout Christian beliefs, gave away his fortune, and followed God. He later became a bishop and after his death, many had sightings/healing experiences with him. That led to his title of the Patron Saint of Children. To be sure, time marches on, commercialism sets in, and his story becomes embellished, but the essence of the man was love. Wow… Couldn’t we learn to look past the Walmart-ism and see this man as being emblematic of what this world needs today?
