September 2022
“SOMAbon”
Well, hello everyone it’s been awhile since I have written and so I decided to put the pen to paper, or my mouth to the microphone, however you want to look at it. Today is September 18th, 2022 and we’re coming up to the Autumn Equinox and Pagan holiday of Mabon. This year the time of day and night being equal is September 22 at 20:03. Mabon is a time of thanking the gods/goddesses for the harvest that has been reaped. It is a time of future planning for the harsh winter. I find it interesting that this parallels the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, another time also of giving thanks and of asking for forgiveness, for atonement.
Going along the line of reflection and circumspect as a physician, I’ve seen healthcare changed drastically in the past 2 ½ years. Now, more than ever, it is time for individuals to step up to the plate and start doing the action steps of taking care of themselves. Paralleling the infectious epidemic, we’ve had another one worsened: obesity. We are a culture that eats in celebration, eats when grieving, or lonely, or just because. We eat a lot! And yet how often are we truly hungry? I had a client here at School of Mystical Awakening that came to clear blocks regarding the weight loss surgery they needed. Using the thought form that we co-create our reality I asked her: what did her weight mean to her? She started to cry. She related that the boy who molested her at a very young age moved back to town recently. I reminded her that she is no longer a child, but a powerful grown woman. The weight was no longer needed to protect her. Even verbally she could tear someone to shreds! We went further, working on the healing, and I gave her a mantra for confidence and proactive protection. She promised to recite it every day. A couple of months went by and I happened to run into her at a local restaurant. She looked fantastic! She shared with me that shortly after working that mantra her insurance okayed the surgery. It went without a hitch and she feels much better. Adding to her joy she saw her attacker who apologized to her for what had happened in the past. With the mantra she got two healings – one emotional and the other physical.
Why go on about her victory? Her story represents that of many. And In these crazy times it’s easy to use food as an escape. At the time of the equinox Saturn (structure) is squaring Uranus (rebellion). Uranus is conjunct Rahu… the aspect of the lunar nodes that represents insatiable desires. Or, in other words, a possibility of structure making a tough angle to the desire to topple the whole apple cart. A classic of black and white thinking. People forget there are 256 shades of gray. Some of us sport more shades than others ?.
Obesity creates a smoldering inflammation in the body creating a recipe for bad Covid 19 outcome, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Remember it’s not always what you’re eating, but what’s eating you. Food is the addiction that is socially acceptable. As one patient shared with me: “Doc, you can give up smoking, you can give up drinking, you can give up drugs, but you can’t give up food… you still gotta eat.” Along that same line, COVID demonstrated the frailty of our health care system. People went without health care as offices were shut down. Use the tragedy that happened as an impetus to take care of yourself. As my guru Namadeva said to me in his last days of incarnation: “Adi Lakshmi, you can be the most spiritual person, but if your body is unhealthy no one will hear your message”.
In these times of change, in which courage is needed, I offer the mantra of the Goddess who promised to return and restore proper dharma and offer proactive protection, the goddess Chamundi:
Om Eim Hrim Klim Chamundayei Vicce Namaha
Om is the seed sound of the brown center. Eim (I’m) the seed sound of Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge.
Hrim (reem) the bija mantra for seeing beyond the matrix, the façade.
Klim (kleem) the mantra for attraction.
Chamundayei ( cha moon dye yay)
Vicce (vee chay) victory
Namaha (like Yamaha) means, I salute.
In summary, give thanks for the blessings received and demonstrate that gratitude by taking better care of yourself.
All addictions… food, booze, drugs, sex, gambling… serve as blocks between you and Source.
Face your fears courageously with the help of Chamundi.
